Lifting Me Up: My Testimony of Unexpected Grace

What happens when you hit rock bottom? For those who ask for proof of God, my answer is found right there in the trenches. This is my testimony on why I don't believe in coincidence, but in the miraculous help that arrives just when all hope is lost.

What would we truly give for a loved one? The instinct to protect them is so primal, so profound, that the thought process immediately goes to the ultimate trade-off: let me suffer for them. Can you stand to see them in pain? The answer is an immediate, agonizing "no." To give all you have, to endure the hunger, the hardship, or the pain, simply to ease their burden. It's a deep, human compassion that drives us to make immense sacrifices, big and small, because their well-being matters more than our own comfort. As the Bible reminds us: "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4) It’s interesting how life sometimes forces these situations upon us, revealing the absolute depths of our love.

It is often during these most difficult times, when we are truly at the bottom and sacrificing everything, that a powerful sense of grace or divine intervention appears. For many, including myself, moments of despair are where you suddenly find unexpected help. I remember one moment vividly: I had used literally all my resources to help, and I was sitting there realizing I wasn't even sure how I would get to work the next day because all my money was gone. That's when a lifeline arrives. It’s a stranger offering a hand for no reason, or an unexpected side hustle lands in your lap just when you needed a dollar. These aren't just lucky breaks; they are timely rescues that defy easy explanation. They are the moments that truly make you wonder about the forces at work in the world.

I often hear people asking for proof of God. I always wonder if those people have ever truly been at the bottom, desperate and out of options. For me, that’s precisely where I found God—not in a lofty church or an academic argument, but in the trenches of real life, lifting me up in ways that are impossible to ignore. I don't believe in coincidence when the help arrives precisely at the moment of my greatest need. I believe in God. That experience of being saved, of seeing a path open when every door was shut, is my proof, and it solidifies my faith and trust in every challenge.
